Message #148692
[Bug 1515551] Re: Several laptops unstable with 15.10 kernels
+1 on a ThinkPad T430s with Intel graphics.
Mostly random freezes and random crashes of Xorg. First I thought it was
a problem introduced with upgrading (14.10 -> 15.04 -> 15.10), so I
performed a clean install, to no avail. Have been reluctant to downgrade
so far.
(Interestingly, I just now managed to crash the X server three times in
a row by clicking on the 'Edit' button in the 'Shutter' screenshot
application. Don't know if that is technically related.)
When I mentioned it on the [forums][1], there was one other user who had
a similar problem, so that makes us 3.

Title:
Several laptops unstable with 15.10 kernels
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
After upgrading my two laptops (HP EliteBook 8470p, Sony Vaio, both
several years old) to 15.10 both started freezing within 12 hours of
booting and the screens started flickering when X did fade-out and
fade-ins.
Booting the HP with the 15.04 kernel (3.19.0-31) makes it stable
again. The sony vaoi was downgraded to 14.04 and is stable there.
