[Bug 1516768] [NEW] Multimonitor fullscreen resolution is too large

Public bug reported:

When a game (Shadowrun Hong Kong or Dominions4) is started in fullscreen
mode for the first time with two or more monitors active it reads the
resolution of a surface equivalent to the monitors summed plus the
surface needed to form a virtual giant monitor:

For intance, having a 1024x768 display plus a 1280x960 would show an
initial resolution bigger than 2400x1600 pixels, actually more in the
range of 3600x2704 (4:3 ratio).

This makes that the menu of the games (or eventual programs) cannot be
used. Eventually this effect also misplaces the monitors in on the
configuration screen if one manages to change the resolution:

After having this problem just yesterday with Dominions4 I was able to
use the cursors to change the resolution to 800x600 observing that the
configuration screen had placed both monitors almost on top of each
other so that the mouse pointer was not visible.

One possible workaround is to set the screens to mirrored so that both
get the pointer (quite difficult to find the pointer though but you can
circulate with the TAB key).

Another workaroud it so -physically- remove one of the monitors, this
means removing the cable, putting the monitor on standby does not work.

I think that it would be positive to resolve this bug as it is in fact
causing a lot of extra workload to the gaming companies and their
support staff.

Kind regards,

Enric
