[Bug 848774] Re: Icon does not show right amount of new email

Okay, but read messages are never considered "new", are they? My problem
is that the number is too high, indicating I should check my email when
in fact I have no new mail.

If it matters, I have checked the "Show in the messaging menu" and "Only
for messages in my Inbox" checkboxes in Preferences -> General.

** Summary changed:

- Icon does not show right amount of unread email
+ Icon does not show right amount of new email

Title:
Icon does not show right amount of new email

Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Not sure if this is a Unity or Thunderbird bug, but when I read email
(and therefore changing them from "unread" to "read" and then look at
the thunderbird application icon (in alt-tab or in the unity
launcher), the number does not seem to decrease correctly.
