[Bug 1534964] Re: Hotplugging HDMI fails
Sami00Sami:
>"In other hand, there isn't really a crash report"
Given all the crashes that have populated in your /var/crash (some not
reported yet), it would be most helpful to report those.
However, given that the nvidia drivers would be responsible for the
desired functionality, it would be best to re-test to this in Xenial via
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ to get ahead of new
functionality landing there.
If reproducible in it, please file a new report scoped to precisely that by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the following from a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg
Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it.
This will help keep the report free and clear of scope creep, and
confusion.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Hotplugging HDMI fails
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Affected computer: Dell Precision 15 5000 Series (5510) with Quadro
M1000M/PCIe/SSE2 graphics card (kernel 4.2.0-23-generic).
Expected behaviour:
- hotplugging HDMI cable would work
Current behaviour:
- Hotpluging doesn't work (no kernel events, used udevadm monitor to
verify)
Current observations:
- HDMI output works if connected from the boot
- When DPMS kicks in HDMI output disappears (tested with 2 different monitors)
- Hotpluging doesn't work (no kernel events, used udevadm monitor to verify)
- VGA (via usb-c adapter) works, hotplugging also
- HDMI (via usb-c adapter) causes black screen in computer display and eventually crashes X. Unplugging adapter before crash restores state (computer display restored)
- display port (via usb-c adapter) not confirmed
