Alex, what I do notice is that the color of the scrollbar changes
between your two pictures. However, I'm not ahead of if this is as
designed behavior for this release (i.e. not a regression, but a feature
change).

Despite this, it wouldn't appear to be an xorg issue here, as suggested
by how you have found this across your disparate hardware.

  Graphical glitch with scrollbars

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  It seems like the scrollbars should be small until I hover over them,
  but for me the area where the scrollbar should be hidden turns white.
  Everything is fine when I hover over it. I think this is the same
  everywhere, but it's visible in the terminal as the background is
  something other than plain white. Pictures attached.

  I checked it on a Broadwell-U laptop too, same problem.

  Tested in VirtualBox too, same problem.
