Proprietary ATI/AMD video hardware driver causes Scrambled Video
Status in fglrx-installer package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Upon a clean install of the Ubuntu Desktop i386, testcase Install
(manual partitioning)... ( Ubuntu Lucid development branch 10.04 )
The notification that a proprietary hardware driver is available....
alerts you to the fact that there is an "ATI/AMD video hardware
