[Bug 727017] Re: Can not validate

Thanks for reporting this problem, Eric, and sorry we didn't get to it
earlier.

If you still experience the problem, please reopen this report and follow these steps:
1. close Ubuntu Software Center, if it's open already
2. enter the command "software-center" in a Terminal window
3. try to install something to trigger the hang
4. when it hangs, in the Terminal, press Ctrl C
5. copy any output from the Terminal window, and paste it into this bug report.

Thanks.

Title:
  Can not validate

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

I can no longer install software with software-center following the
latest system updates that were downloaded. I am on Ubuntu 10.10. It
asks me to insert a password to validate, which I do, and then it
closes out the password box and hangs with the validate screen open.
Reboot hasn't fixed the problem. Can't install any software as of
now, even via terminal either, as the software-center process seems to
  still be active.
