Title:
Battery Status Applet not working properly

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: indicator-application

  10.10 Beta
  Indicator Applet 0.4.6

When clicking on the battery symbol in the Indicator Applet, instead
of displaying the battery level it says 'Laptop battery
(estimating...)' but never provides an estimate.

The on-screen pop-up (notify-osd?) when there is a change, like
unplugging AC power, is however accurate and provides the battery
  percentage.
