[Bug 855734] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGABRT in_kernal_vsyscall()

Public bug reported:

After the most recent update, the networking failed to load on boot. On
selecting Network from System Settings nothing happenened except the
Network icon highlighting briefly. Selecting Displays, Appearence, and
other selections in the System Settings; resulted in the panel for those
selections to briefly open and then go completly blank, only showing a
grey solid panel. When I closed the System Setting window. I closed
briefly, but relauched seconds later. This behaviour repeated
contiously until the gnome-settings-daemon crashed. Checking on the
running processes shows several instances of the gnome-control-center
before the crash. With other windows open; the System settings panel
continues to steal focus from other windows.

1. Using: Ubuntu Oneric (development branch) release:11.10

2. Package Version Information:

   gnome-settings-daemon 3.1.92-0ubuntu1 oneiric/main i386 Packages

   gnome-control-center 1:3.1.92-0ubuntu1

  unity 4.16.0-0ubuntu2

  nautilus 1:3.1.92-0ubuntu2

  Linux 3.0.0-11-generic i686

ProcVersionSigniture : Ubuntu 3.0.0-11.18-generic 3.0.4

*Please Note: Since I am unable to connect my netbook to the network; I
am hand filing this bug report from my Nook Color. Therfore; I am
unable to attach any files, but am attempting to include as much info as
I can by hand typing what I can from the error report, so I ask for your
understanding.

First few XsessionErrors:
(gnome-settings-daemon:1613): GLib-CRITICAL **:g_variant_new_string: assertion 'string != NULL' failed
(gnome-settings-daemon:1613): GnomeDestop-CRITICAL **: gnome_rr_crtc_get_gamma: assertion 'crtc != NULL' failed
...
...
...

3. Expected behaviour: Ubuntu would start normaly with the networking
enabled and acessable. Attempting to modify Network Setting as well as
any other System Setting through the Control Center System Settings
Pannel would result in successfuly accesings the appropriate sttings and
making any changes successfully.

4. Actual behavior: All network access failed to start on boot and
login into Ubuntu Unity. Attempting to access and modify Network
Settings in the Control Center failed to open the Network settings
panel. Further attempts to open other settings pannels for other system
settings resulted in blank panels opening. Closing the System Settings
Window resulted in the Window continously reopening until a crash
occured.

My biggest issue at the moment is restoring my network access on my netbook. I am still able to access the same wireless network with several other devices, and was able to succefully acess the wireless network with my netbook until the latest update.

My Netbook is a Toshiba NB 305
