Steps to reproduce this bug:

1) Start xchat-gnome.
2) Dismiss the initial connection dialog.
3) Go to the Edit -> Preferences menu option.
4) Select the Networks option from the left-hand pane.
5) Select Freenode from the list of networks.
6) Click the Edit button.
7) See that the application crashes, issuing this error:

(xchat-gnome:10338): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_strsplit: assertion `string != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault
