Message #24166
[Bug 860270] [NEW] cannot resume from hibernation when on AC power but low on battery
Public bug reported:
If my laptop hibernates because the battery is about to run out of power
and I plug in the adapter, Ubuntu will refuse to resume correctly from
hibernation.
What happens is this
1. get a warning for low battery
2. ignore the warning :)
3. laptop hibernates
4. plug in the adapter, laptop is now charging
5. power on the laptop
6. laptop start resuming from hibernation
What happen now is the bug I am reporting
7. after few seconds the computer goes back into hibernation
If I let the battery charge for a while (let's say 10 minutes), the
computer resumes from hibernation without any problem.
I think the problem is that the battery still reports a low power level
because is has been charged for only few seconds. This makes the
application that overviews the battery level (gnome-power-manager?)
think that it is time to hibernate. If this is the problem, them the
application should be fixed to never hibernate if the laptop is on AC
power, regardless of the battery level.
** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
