Message #25206
[Bug 861764] [NEW] Selecting "Pages" in the Printer dialog should (again) select the current single page by default
Public bug reported:
The new printing UI (since Version 3.1?) has the annoying feature, that
it selects the whole page range by default when switching from the "All
pages" radiobutton to the "Pages" radio button.
This is highly nonsense.
If we are in a multiple pages document, and I want to print all of them, I don't switch the radio button and just go with "All pages".
_If_ I switch the radiobutton to "Pages" then I have a reason not to print the whole range.
Thus the earlier behaviour, namly selecting and showing by default only
the current page, does make sense, since this is the most common case.
It takes you one more click/tip on the keyboard to choose the right page
number. And if for some reason, you cannot see which page you wanted to
print (Status bar gone, small screen, etc), you will even have to type
more than one.
The only reason I can see is to hint new users how to use the selection
in the interface. That's not worth it, I think.
Thus this bug report.
