Have you installed all the updates? I cannot reproduce this? It works
fine for me.

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  When using Nautilus, the "Alt+" keyboard shortcuts won't work.
  Pressing the Alt key will reveal the application menu but pressing the
  underlined letter will do nothing. For example, pressing "Alt+F" will
  not open the File-menu. Pressing "Alt+V" will not open the View-menu.
