Title:
Standalone package containing .desktop file shown with generic package
  icon

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Ubuntu Software Center 5.0, Ubuntu 11.10 beta

  1. Download Google Chrome at <http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?hl=en-GB&platform=linux>.
  2. Open the package.

What you see: Ubuntu Software Center shows a generic package icon.
What you should see: The Chrome icon inside the package.

The fix for this bug probably should share code with the fix for bug
  599676.
