That configuration dialog is deprecated in GNOME3 and Oneiric so closing
the bug, feel free to open new bugs about other issues you might find
though

  gnome-about-me: Error changing face image

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gdm

  I change my face image in gnome-about-me by selecting About Me from
  the system menu.  I select my face image, let's say by selecting the
  dice.jpg file in the /usr/share/pixmaps/faces directory.  ~/.face is
  created.  I restart twice and the dice image is shown as my face image
  in the face browser.

  I now manually change the ~/.face file to astronaut.jpg (cp
  /usr/share/pixmaps/faces/astronaut.jpg ~/.face).  When I restart, the
  astronaut image is now shown as my face image in the face browser but
  the dice image is still shown as the face image in gnome-about-me.
  The face image in gnome-about-me should also change even if the
  ~/.face file is manually changed.

  Also, according to Section 2.6 at
  http://library.gnome.org/admin/gdm/stable/overview.html.en, I should
  be able to show a face image in the face browser by creating a file
  called <username> in the /usr/share/pixmaps/faces directory.  This
  does not work.  I am not sure if this is by design in Karmic or if
  it's a bug.
