Title:
Nautilus file copy to USB disk stalls

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

  Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala 64bit
  nautilus: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3

When copying a file (2.6 GB in size) via Nautilus file manager from a SATA HDD to a USB thumb drive I monitor via iostat. I see iostat show a good rate of copy until ~600MB is copied. When at ~600MB copied it stalls and I see iostat report <1MB/s. After searching google I see others are having similar issues. Others are reporting that if closing windows or displaying files in windows without viewing as thumbnails the issue seems to go away.

I closed all Nautilus windows and tried copying the file via command
line cp and viewed again via iostat. Iostat showed a constant 15MB/s
  until the copy completed.

From what I can tell this seems to be a Nautilus bug.
