Message #40270
[Bug 741778] Re: website URL not shown (except as tooltip), not copiable
Lucian, thanks for this report. I think it was closed a little
prematurely. That the specification doesn't include something doesn't
mean it shouldn't; we get lots of good ideas through bug reports.
I agree with Gary that it is good for the "Developer Web Site" link to
be simple and consistent. However, as you say, it would be useful to
copy the URL without having to open it in a browser first -- for
example, to paste it into an IM or e-mail message.
So, here's a mini-specification:
------------
The "Developer Web Site" link should be draggable outside of USC (test case: drag it into a folder window, and into a LibreOffice document), and should also have a context menu with a single item, "Copy Link".
------------
If anyone implements that, I'll merge it into the specification at the
same time.

Title:
website URL not shown (except as tooltip), not copiable
Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Binary package hint: software-center
One cannot:
* see the URL except for hovering over the "Website" URL.
* copy the URL into the clipboard
* select parts of the label/URL
All these cases may be of interest to a user:
* a11y apps cannot see the text even if support is present in software-center
* users cannot see the URL and need to do something
* cannot copy the URL without clicking, waiting for the browser to open, and copying it from there.
