[Bug 879500] Re: no Wine entry into "open with" for exe application

 

Have tried several ways to "add" wine into the context "open with" menu,
but still fails to get it.

- mimeapps.list: added into [Default Applications]
application/x-ms-dos-executable=wine.desktop

- /etc/gnome/defaults.list, added:
application/x-extension-exe=wine.desktop

Maybe its an xdg-utils issue.

Bug description:
  Precise i386
  I have wine 1.3.28 (genuine Precise)  & wine1.3-gecko installed
  but i want to open an exe file, the "open with" dialog box dont propose wine in its list. Selecting "other apps" it still dont find wine.
  Searching then apps online, its proposing something wrong again:  Wine Microshoft Compat.... which i select but then warn about:

  -> To be installed: wine1.2-gecko (1.0.0+1)
  -> To be removed: wine1.3 (1.3.28-0ubuntu1)

  This is completly borked.
