[Bug 878086] Re: Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings after upgrading to 11.10
You must be mistaken about Empathy not supporting proxies, since it
wouldn't have worked for me behind a firewall otherwise, but I was using
it for a time (before upgrading to 11.10) with several outside resources
like Google Talk and Facebook Chat. I'm also sure I didn't do any
special steps to set it up.

Title:
Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings after upgrading to
11.10
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Upgrading to 11.10 from 11.04 has rendered Empathy unusuable for me
since Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings anymore, so
connections to accounts fail. Other software like Chromium works
correctly. I've double checked the proxy settings in System Settings
-> Network -> Network proxy and also in dconf -> system -> proxy, and
also in gconf-editor -> system -> proxy, and the everything seems
correct. I also have the same problem with Pidgin and I've filed bug
#878032 about it.
