Message #43859
[Bug 883691] [NEW] (Most) Oneiric system sounds do not play
Public bug reported:
I hope I'm filing this against the correct package.
In Oneiric, very few system sounds play. I hear button-clicking sounds
if I have those on, and there is a small "beep" when Thunderbird gets a
new mail, and IM sounds from Empathy work. But more general, system-wide
sounds aren't playing at all.
For instance, if I open gedit, type in some words, then try to close it,
the warning dialog that pops up asking me to save isn't accompanied by
the drum sound I expect.
In dconf-editor, under org.gnome.desktop.sound, I do have the "theme-
name" value set to "ubuntu", and I can play these sounds with canberra
commands such as:
/usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="dialog-warning"
But in practice there are few (if any) of these system sounds.
** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
