Thank you for your bug report, the title description is not very
constructive to get an useful discussion about your issue though, could
you avoid random rants in bug reports and rather describe your issues in
a constructive way?
** Changed in: gedit (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided => Low
** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 858338
gedit should 'find next' when I press enter in find

Title:
New search function sucks
Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I'm not 100 % sure the search function (Ctrl+F) actually changed, but
I don't think it behaved this way before.
When you Ctrl+F to search for something, it finds the first occurence
of that string, but it also changes the focus to the main window, so
that when you hit "Enter" to search again, you instead wind up
replacing the first occurence of the string with a newline. This is
highly annoying to say the least, and contrary to the behaviour used
in Firefox and Chrome. Hitting "Enter" should make you find the next
string; hitting anything else; hitting anything else should add that
to the search box.
I guess what I'm asking is to leave the focus in the search box, not
to change it once an occurence of the string is found.
