Any news since? Any workaround possible? My client keeps complaining
about this one ...

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

  When trying to view the properties of a large JPEG file (18 MB), nautilus crashes.
  These are three seperate attempts to show the properties of a particular file (happens with other large JPEGs as well):
