Fresh installation of Xubuntu Precise Pangolin; iso image desktop-i386
dated 2011-12-06. I did run sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-
upgrade. This is reproducable using VirtualBox.

When attempting to install gedit using software center:

An Unrecoverable error occured
There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks.

Installing gedit using sudo apt-get install gedit worked as expected.
