[Bug 907198] [NEW] rhythmbox hangs, freezes after launch, start, it takes long till ready to play

Public bug reported:

After launching rhythmbox 2.90.1 in Ubuntu 11.10 (AMD64) it would show the rhythmbox screen, but it freezes for more than 10 minutes, so the loading till you can play a song takes a long time. The CPU usage goes up sharply and drops after the freeze is over.
If the database is empty the starting of Ubuntu takes only seconds, but I have about 5000 titles in the database, so it takes more than 10 minutes. I had no problem in Ubuntu 10.10 (i386), rhythmbox started quickly and had no problems with the 5000 songs.

When I start rhythmbox in the terminal with "rhythmbox -d", I get the output* I have attached. I think the hanging/freezing comes from the repetitive similar line, probably 5000 times :

Not sure why it does this, but perhaps somebody can help. Thanks.
I deactivated all plugins and "watch my library for new files".

*I reduced the database to some songs only, so rhythmbox would start
quickly. The list with the above mentioned pattern "processing
RHYTHMDB_EVENT_STAT" of is short, normally it would go through all 5000
songs!
