Title:
Can not pair with a Bluetooth device that needs a fixed PIN
Status in “gnome-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth
This is a long-standing bug, since Karmic or so, and still present in
Natty.
When pairing with a new device that needs a specific PIN (in my case,
it is a Nonin 9650 oximeter), I choose PIN Options, choose Custom PIN
and type the number of the needed PIN. Sometimes it works, but
sometimes it insists on choosing a random PIN, which won't work with
Nonin because it does not have a keyboard at all.
Sometimes the bluetooth-applet does the right thing 66% of the time,
but sometimes it simplly won't go with fixed PIN, even trying several
times, so I am forced to use simple-agent script from BlueZ source.
There is some "statistical" or "random" component in this behavior.
