Title:
Issues with folders containing more than 2GB of data
Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: thunderbird
I use thunderbird x86 version 2.0.0.14+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1.
Some weeks ago one of my folder files (profiledir/Mail/Local Folders/Xyz) exceeded 2GB.
This situation results in the following errors:
1. New Mail (which is automatically moved to that folder by a filter) is displayed wrong. Wrong in that way that the new mails all show up with the same subject, sender, recipient and content as a very old email in that folder.
-> This issue can temporarily be corrected by choosing Folder->Properties->Recreate Index. After that, existing mails are displayed correctly. However this must be done every time new mail arrives.
2. The folder cannot be deleted. No error, it justs wont go away.
3. If I tell the plugin "Smartsave" to export that folder, not a single email is exported
Afaik the profile was initially created using thunderbird 1.0. However the problems seem to be caused only by the size of the folder files.
All problems went away after I did split that folder with each part having less than 2GB and did run Folder->Compress for the old folder (otherwise the folder file keeps its size above 2GB).
