I am glad I am not alone, Libre Office does not get any further than a flashing icon when starting up and crashes out. This happened after an upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10.

In the terminal you get

paul@paul-Ei-205:~$ libreoffice
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException'
paul@paul-Ei-205:~$ 

I think this is the same bug, not sure, as the description of the
problem at start of thread is the same. Have run 'ubuntu-bug' and
uploaded.

  Libre Office indicates an intent to start but then forgets

Bug description:
  When I attempt to open Libre Office or try to open a saved file, the
  start-up box appears for several seconds, but then it goes away with
  no program opening.  When I enter "libreoffice" into terminal, I get
  the following output:

  librenathan@nathan-laptop:~$ libreoffice
  Bus error
  nathan@nathan-laptop:~$ 

  I know there's already one report of this from an earlier user, but
  mine started happening when I replaced Ubuntu 11.04 with Ubuntu 11.10.
  Before the update, Libre Office worked fine.
