Message #69535
[Bug 922123] [NEW] DSL connection never appears
Public bug reported:
Sometimes dsl connection and eth0 disappears when I lose connection,
while wireless never disappears. When my connection with internet
provider dies sometimes dsl connection (for ppp0) goes away. It only
comes back if I do sudo service network-manager restart.
If the interface would not just go away I could use gnome settings page
to actually turn on my connection, which I can do in case of wireless,
but the eth0 does not show up on the network settings list and only
reappears if I restart network-manager.
Second problem is the the network-manager never redials previous
connection. E.g if I have two dsl connection it redials randomly.
When I lose a connection, e.g if the service provider makes a fault my
network-manager never redials the connection. I was able to get around
this problem using a cron job and probing every hour for a lost
connection. If we could set e.g 100 dials before it dies out then that
would be great. Thanks
** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
