Spectrumknight, apart from using the oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms package,
you *also* seem to have installed a custom version of the snd kernel
module somehow:

key missing - tainting kernel

So you'll have one kernel base, a snd module from a second source, and a
third snd-hda-* module from the dkms package. That probably makes the
dkms package compile itself against the wrong headers, causing the
above.

Bug description:
  Well, another ubuntu update, another round of fighting to get sound
  working.  Dual boot to Windows 8 to make sure sound works, so hardware
  is fine.
