Bug description:
On some Intel systems, the GPU momentarily locks up but then recovers
and continues on. The user does not usually notice anything (maybe a
slight lag). Then some time later (possibly after a system reboot),
apport pops up an error dialog about the GPU hang.

In dmesg there will typically be something like this:

[ 4353.784417] [drm] capturing error event; look for more information in /debug/dri/0/i915_error_state
  [ 4353.785979] i915: render error detected, EIR: 0x00000010

  [ 4353.785994] i915: INSTDONE_1: 0xffffffff
  [ 4353.785996] i915: INSTDONE_2: 0x00000000

  [ 4353.786016] [drm:i915_report_and_clear_eir] *ERROR* EIR stuck: 0x00000010, masking

The ", masking" indicates that i915 was able to reset the GPU and
  continue on.

The timestamp at the start of the line indicates how many seconds the
system was up at the time of the recover. In this case it was after 3
  days usage.
