Message #93442
[Bug 1409491] [NEW] selecting Nvidia on Dell E5440 turns off screen
Public bug reported:
System: Dell Latitude E5440 with Intel IGC and Nvidia discrete graphics.
On vivid, I used "additional drivers" to install Nvidia 331 stable
driver, which installed Nvidia-prime and automatically selected Nvidia
as the main display. After rebooting lightdm comes up with the display
turned off (I can hear the login screen sound).
Changing to a text vt and calling `sudo prime-select intel` followed by
`sudo restart lightdm` returned me to the working login screen on the
Intel display. The reverse can be used to get back to a disabled
internal screen with the Nvidia driver.
I'm not using an external HDMI connected display.
** Affects: nvidia-prime (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
