[Bug 1416150] [NEW] Notification remains permanently

Public bug reported:

The new message icon appears in the system tray applet when I get a new
mail, but then it remains permanently until I manually clear it. Reading
the message, deleting it, moving it, replying to it, nothing I do will
clear it automatically.
