I guess both projects will continue to the existing plugin framework, but it seems pretty much inevitable that the projects will diverge from now on and they will probably not stay compatible in the long run. I guess Sonatype is pretty important for our kind of development platform, and they've very much aligned themselves with oracle. Will be interesting to see how things unfold :)
