In IE8, indicators in datasets (for data entry) do not work. Tested on
2.15 and trunk.

This is the console output:

It seems that the problem is with the first part of the expression,
where the . that is supposed to separate data element id and optioncombo
id is replaced with a -   (have verified that the issue is not with the
indicator formula, and it only happens in IE).
