Can you provide the link to the section in the manual that you are looking
at?

For the Web API, I recommend you read the developer guide.

The link you include below works fine, but complains about a missing
parameter. You need to include the dataSet, like this:
https://apps.dhis2.org/demo/api/dataValueSets?dataSet=pBOMPrpg1QX&period=201401&orgUnit=DiszpKrYNg8
