Re: Cloning a dataset

Hi Nicolay,

Is there a reason why it was decided to remove the cloning of datasets? It
is a useful feature now that one is able to create a duplicate dataset and
use the override data elements’ category combinations in the duplicated
dataset. It is obviously possible to re-create the dataset manually but
quite tedious with a large dataset. Was there any issues with duplication
of datasets that prompted the removal of the cloning feature or can it be
brought back?

Regards,

Cloning of datasets was removed in 2.24, but it seems we forgot to update
the documentation.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Hi all,

It seems the cloning of datasets are not there although it is in the 2.25
manual here
https://ci.dhis2.org/docs/2.25/en/user/html/manage_data_sets.html

Stipulating under 10.3.5 as follows:

*10.3.5. Clone data sets*

Cloning a data set can save time when you create many similar data sets.

1. Open the *Maintenance* app and click *Data set* > *Data set*.

2. In the list, find the data set you want to clone.

3. Click the options menu and select *Clone*.

4. Modify the options you want.

5. Click *Save*.

However all datasets on SL demo does not provide the option to clone as
displayed in this screenshot. Is it a bug in DHIS2 that the clone function
is not displayed or is the manual outdated?
