Public bug reported:

When docky has windows overlaped it would be usefull to have "hide"
keyboard shortcut so it "gets out of the way" faster. Most of the time
overlaped windows are not a problem but sometimes you need to see the
bottom status bar of an application and docky is on the way.

This could be set in a gconf key and not be visible in preferences
screen.
