I can understand why you might want this feature, but I think the extra
complication this would introduce isn't really worth it.  If you just
set a folder's index depth to 1, it'll pick up all of the directories
and files anyways.  If there are a few extra directories there you don't
use, no big deal.  You can also just browse using the arrow keys.
