  In the last line replace this:
  Save the file and open Xsane (Applications → Graphics → XSane Image Scanner). Your scanner will hopefully work. 

  with this
  Save the file and open Simple Scan (Applications → Graphics → Simple Scan). Your scanner will hopefully work.
