Public bug reported:

New ubuntu installation 12.04 LTS failed to update completely. There
were about 662 (!) updates available, but after running "apt-get install
-f" - command in in Terminal and also restarting after recovery-mood
there are still 295 updates that refuses to install. My expectation was
of course that none of this would have happened but a smooth install
leading to a fully functional system!
