[Bug 1363778] [NEW] 14.04 upgrade display driver missing on Acer AMD64 laptop

 

Public bug reported:

After flawless upgrade from 12.04 on Acer laptop with AMD 64-bit
processor display has only generic 1024x768 mode. lspci does list ATI
Radeon HD 3200 controller, but aticonfig has error "No supported adapter
detected", and  AMD Catalyst Control Center in Settings reports
initialization error. Also, at boot "unable to detect WMID device"
message comes up
