[Bug 1792802] Re: HP G7 Laptop Display rotated without input.. cannot open the display settings to rotate back to horizontal
Ok, if you say so. But it's still not a desktop guide bug.
I changed it to a generic Ubuntu bug, without specifying the package.
Maybe someone knows which would be the proper package for it.
One reason for seeking help would be to get help with just that, i.e.
identifying the package which is the culprit.
** Package changed: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) => ubuntu

Title:
HP G7 Laptop Display rotated without input.. cannot open the display
settings to rotate back to horizontal
Status in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Ubuntu 18.04 upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04
Absolutely frustrated.. 16.04 was working fine. 18.04 upgrade
yesterday was fine till I logged in this AM. Screen rotated to the
right. I have followed all the Desktop Guide Settings but the change
the resolution or rotation when clicked on takes me back to Desktop
Settings Displays and Screen. It then requires that I click on
Activities which when I do, it takes me back to the Activities
overview..I type in Display and it takes me back to the list with
Display and Screen. I click on that and the same steps come up. I
never get a screen to restore the rotation. I have found a screen at
one point where I can change resolution but it does not have the
ability to change the rotation. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. I have gone in
circles for over a half hour.. or more..upgraded from 16.04 9-15-18.
Turned off computer over night and when after booting up, screen
automatically rotated clockwise and I am currently unable to restore
to it's proper position. This computer is a HP G7 AMD Chip 17.3"
laptop. Your pkgname instruction doesn't work in the terminal. I am
getting a very stiff neck having to hold my head sideways to access
the computer.. I am so angry... I knew I should have remained on
16.04.. how do I reverse the install without destroying apps and
data???
