I don't recall for sure, but here's why I think I'm working with swig 
from fink:
Fink installs a parallel python tree to get things like hg working. And 
swig seems to be picky about the python libraries+binaries it is built 
against, so I don't think I was able to use 10.5's swig with fink's python.
