I get this:

Python 2.6.2 (release26-maint, Apr 19 2009, 01:58:18)
[GCC 4.3.3] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> from distutils import sysconfig
>>> print sysconfig.get_python_lib()
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages
>>>

but then I forgot that UFC specifies the 'prefix' keyword. If I do that, I
get the same result as you:

>>> print sysconfig.get_python_lib(prefix="$prefix")
$prefix/lib/python2.6/site-packages
>>>

However, when I generated the Ubuntu package for UFC it was installed
under dist-packages:

# dpkg -L python-ufc
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/pyshared-data
/usr/share/pyshared-data/python-ufc
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc/AUTHORS
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc/README
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc/copyright
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc/TODO.gz
/usr/share/doc/python-ufc/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/pyshared
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/__init__.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/dof_map.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/function.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/integrals.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/finite_element.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/build.py
/usr/share/pyshared/ufc_utils/form.py
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/python2.6
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/_ufc.so
/usr/include
/usr/include/swig
/usr/include/swig/ufc.i

Maybe it is working because I use DESTDIR when generating the package. Not
sure.

So, I guess the bug is not fixed after all. Sorry.
