I think there might be problems from the publishers. However, if the book is available from the publishers in Kindle format, I'm willing to pay for it. Kindle is much lighter than real books.

I also tried to convert the source to .mobi-format via html but gave
up after some struggling. tex4ht seemed most promising but I didn't
have time to read up on that. I may give it another try when I have
time. Would it be ok to distribute .mobi-files (I mean, without
getting trouble with the publisher etc.)?
