right. we will group different tools into categories and let user
select say 'system programming' and get everything installed starting from
gcc up to a powerful ide along with all necessary man pages, and maybe even
kernel sources;)
mm..maybe 'environment configurator'? in fact our manager will create and
configure a working environment so maybe it should be referred to as configurator?
anyway what we must do is to hide as many complexities as possible from our users.
when i started programming on linux i really missed some sort of a magic button
with a scripture like 'make it all work!';) i even didn't know that i need g++ to
compile .cpp files. so we just need to arrange everything that we have to offer
in such an order that it will be impossible to make a mistake or get confused.
i think many newbies get annoyed when they see something like
'add/install an application/program'. maybe we should show them something like:
would you like to extend your working environment? in which way would you like to
extend it? would you like to extend your system's multimedia capabilities?
development capabilities? web hosting capabilities? ...
