Re: [Question #117790]: Rsync options feature to allow input rsync password by file

Question #117790 on Duplicity changed:

edso posted a new comment:
Hi Orair,

first the ubuntu citation is correct but not valid for duplicity as
such. Imagine duplicity as a locally run software that uses different
protocols to store the backup data. It does not use rsync to create the
backup, but instead uses librsync routines to to incremental backups and
uses rsync _only_ to upload to the backup repository.

Regarding the password issue. There is a patch in the upcoming version
0.6.09 that allows setting the password in an env var 'FTP_PASSWORD'.
The name is tributed to legacy, we might change that in the future.

You are right: Generally there is a password from file option missing.
But this applys to all backends, not only rsync. Hence a change in that
direction should be done on the backend.py level, supplying the backends
with a file path and the password read from it, so they can operate.
