Re: [Question #691379]: When will an apt ppa for duplicity 0.8.xx be available ?

Question #691379 on Duplicity changed:

    Status: Open => Needs information

Aaron Whitehouse requested more information:
Hello Doug,

Would you mind please explaining why you are not happy using the snap?

Snaps are much easier for us to build, test and maintain, as it gives us
consistent build target and dependencies across all versions, without
interfering with the versions of those dependencies that somebody
already has on their system. Debs are great for packages that come with
and are tested as part of the base operating system, but snaps are
normally a much nicer solution than PPAs to installing apps outside that
OS release cadence.

I am not saying that we will not do this, I would just like to be clear
on why you need it because it is work to set up and an ongoing
maintenance burden.
