[Bug 1078775] [NEW] missing dependencies when installing packages in precise

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Situation: I'm trying to install selective packages to Ubuntu Mini Remix
12.04 Precise and build up an Xfce remix.

After I had installed notify-osd and libnotify-bin in Precise, I
tried sending test notification via Terminal. But nothing appears on
Desktop and no error was displayed in Terminal. And I'm sure there is
*no* broken packages either.

Few days had passed and I thought of trying to install other application
which relies on notify-osd. So I installed pidgin and pidgin-
libnotify packages. To my surprise, when I sent test notification via
Terminal again, the notification pops up as it should!

Things works *after* I had installed pidgin and pidgin-libnotify
--This is for sure. Among the dependencies of pidgin-libnotify, I found
that these packages-- libgtk2.0-0, libindicate-gtk3, libindicate5
--which are *not* dependencies of notify-osd (or libnotify4), might have
fixed the notification pop-up to work as it should.

To reproduce this issue, do as following:

1. apt-get install notify-osd libnotify-bin
2. notify-send -i system "test notification" "you can see means it works"
// You will not see any notification pop-up in this step
3. apt-get install pidgin pidgin-libnotify
4. repeat step 2
// You can see the notification pop-up now

Hope this matter is clarified.
