Unity doesn't need to do anything there, it uses libraries that support
the specification

  update menu for the new Desktop Menu Specification

Bug description:
  Upstream bugs were incorporated to the new Desktop Menu
  Specification[1].

  Please update your utilities and distribution menu to accept these
  changes and new Categories before application desktop files start to
  use it.

  List of changes that affect applications menu:

  
  1) Science is now Main Category, not Additional Category.

  If you had a common "Edutainment" menu, it could be now split to
